Walk and Train
Not Your Average Dog Walker

What to Expect with Dog Walking with TheTreat

Consistency

Hire dog walkers who reinforce - and don't reinforce - the same behaviors you do.

As your dog's behaviors evolve, we fine tune our walking to ensure your dog's behaviors are being addressed and they are enjoying the time spent with our walkers.

What this might look like:

We start walking your dog when he is a 4 month old puppy. At that time, we work on leash biting and good leash skills. Then, at about six months, he starts to get really excited when he sees other dogs so we practice walking by distractions.

Stimulation

Make sure your dog flexes its muscles, including its brain, while you are away.

At TheTreat, we care about mental and physical stimulation. They are both great ways to tire your dog out and we always include training in our walks.

What this might look like: It's a rainy day and your dog doesn't want to get his little paws wet. We make sure we get a potty break and then we play with your dog inside with snuffle mats and puzzle toys.

Training

If your dog needs extra help with leash walking, you can schedule time with a trainer to walk your dog and teach him proper leash walking behaviors.

Common behaviors of leash walking that need reshaping are pulling, stopping, jumping and barking at other dogs.

What this might look like:

Your dog barks and lunges at other dogs walking. A trainer practices leash handling, control and the behavior of "walk with me"
